Royals to spend less than six hours in Brisbane

THE general public will be able to catch their only glimpse of the royal couple this weekend after details were released of a planned meet-and-greet scheduled to be held after the invitation-only reception at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre in Southbank.

Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will be in Brisbane for less than six hours this Saturday  during a very brief visit to the sunshine state.

The royals will touch down in the morning at the Amberley Air Force base near Ipswich where they will receive a ceremonial arrival and interact with men and women of the Australian Defence Forces.

Queensland Governor Penelope Wensley and Premier Campbell Newman will then host a gala invitation-only reception for the royal couple in the afternoon.

The Duke and Duchess will then walk down Russell St at South Bank giving Queenslanders the opportunity to see the royal couple.

The public walk will commence at the Grey St end and finish at the cultural forecourt at South Bank Parklands.

The walk is scheduled to start at 2.50pm.

A big screen will be positioned in the cultural forecourt at South Bank Parklands to ensure all visitors have a prime view of the day's events.
