Rugby 7s returns to Fraser Coast for 13th time

FRASER Coast Anglican College will host the 13th annual Fraser Coast Invitational Rugby 7s Tournament on Saturday.

A record 30 teams of boys and girls from Gympie, Rockhampton, Bundaberg, Sunshine Coast and Brisbane, along with teams from the Fraser Coast, have registered for the carnival.

There will be a full program of events with games to start at 9am. Finals will be held at 3.30pm.

Many of these teams are on return visits, having marked this event as a permanent booking on their rugby union calendar.

FCAC director of sport Leo West said the event promised to be fast-paced, with more than 50 games scheduled for the day.

"Rugby 7s is an exciting game played over two halves of seven minutes each with plenty of action guaranteed,” West said.

"It is a fast and intense game, making it ideal viewing.” Principal Leisa Harper said she was delighted the college could host such a highly anticipated event again this year. "I encourage the Fraser Coast community to come along and support the local and visiting teams throughout the day.” Mrs Harper said.
