UPDATE: Smoke haze in Takura after fire breaks out

UPDATE: 2.20PM: TAKURA residents are being warned the area may be affected by a large smoke haze due to a fire burning near Rolys Rd and Toogoom Cane Rd.

Five rural fire crews are on the scene of the fire which broke out about 10.45am on Monday.

Firefighters are constructing breaks and conducting backburning operations in order to control the blaze.

No property is under threat.

Residents are urged to close windows and doors and if suffering from a respiratory condition, keep medications close by.

Motorists should drive to the conditions.

EARLIER: TWO rural fire crews  are on scene at a bushfire on Toogoom Cane Rd at Takura.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services rural fire area director Tony Johnstone said the crews were conducting some back burning and creating fire breaks in the area.

The fire is about half a hectare in size.

Crews were called to the scene at 10.50am on Monday.
