Sunday's the day the teddy bears have their picnic

FROM its humble beginnings as a small fundraiser for Condy Park Kindergarten nearly 20 years ago, the annual Teddy Bears Picnic has grown to become a popular community event.

It's on again this Sunday, and kids, families and teddies are invited to come along and join Condy Park in helping Hervey Bay mascot Harvey the Humpback celebrate his fourth birthday, as part of the Whale Festival.

The picnic will be held at the Hervey Bay Botanic Gardens in Elizabeth St, Urangan, with the fun starting at 9am and finishing at 1pm.

The free family event will feature a teddy bears' hospital, rides, stalls, show bags, face painting, gift bottles, lucky dips, crafts, activities and free entertainment.

Families are encouraged to bring their teddies and a picnic blanket and find a spot on the grass to enjoy the morning and sing Happy Birthday to Harvey at 10.15am.
