Man faces child sex charges
A MAN was committed to the Hervey Bay District Court yesterday faced with 43 charges relating to child pornography and sex with underage girls.
The Scarness man fronted the Hervey Bay Magistrates Court charged with a range of offences including possessing child exploitation material, using a carriage service to cause child pornography material to be transmitted, using a carriage service to make child pornography material available, using a carriage service to procure persons under 16 years to engage or submit to sexual activity and carnal knowledge.
He had originally fronted court on Thursday but the case was adjourned until yesterday.
Magistrate Graeme Tatnell had expressed concern about reading out the charges in front of a full court gallery.
Yesterday, Police Prosecutor Sergeant Kath Stagoll handed up several statements and 17 exhibits including a series of photographs and phone records.
The defendant accepted the charges without being read.
Mr Tatnell released the man on bail on the strict condition he not have any contact with the three alleged victims.
