Schache turns down Victorian clubs to stay with Lions

BRISBANE Lions forward Josh Schache has re-signed at the club for two more years.

The second-year goalkicker has turned down advances to return home to Victoria.

Taken at pick two in the 2015 draft, Schache attracted strong interest, with Richmond his leading suitor.

He returned this week after being given two weeks away from the club, visiting Victoria to consider his future.

"Having been at the Lions for a couple of years and seeing where we are headed, I'm really excited about our future," Schache told the Lions website.

"I enjoy living in Brisbane and playing footy with a committed and hard-working group."

Lions football manager David Noble said the club was always confident Schache would stay.

"We're extremely pleased to retain a player of Josh's talent - at only 19 he has shown his ability to play at AFL level and his future is exciting," he said.

"Josh can now focus on his development as both a player and a person within our club systems."
