Schapelle releases a pop song

CONVICTED drug smuggler Schapelle Corby has shared a new musical venture with her followers.

Corby, who has been in Australia for the past year after being freed from Kerobokan jail in Bali, has released a pop song.

Corby, 40, shared the song on Instagram Monday night.

The track, titled 'Palm Trees', was recorded with singer-songwriter Nat Zeleny.

It came with a homemade video clip featuring photos of Corby in Queensland after she came back to Australia.

The post was a 'regram' from Zleney, who captioned the video with: "So it's taken me a little while to upload it but this is mine and @schapelle.corby's song Palm Tree's. I wrote this in Cairns for a bit of a laugh and then took it into the studio to produce it and lay down our vocals. So much fun."

Listen to the song below.

Corby can be heard on the track singing the words: "I'm in Queensland, And it is sunny, I have the palm trees, Behind me."

Some of her followers loved it, saying: "It's a smash hit!", "Amazing! When will this be on Spotify?" and "OMG! I'm dying for this! I hope it goes number one!"

But others were more critical, saying: "didn't see that one coming", "bye" and "what the actual?!??"

It's not clear if Corby will be seriously pursuing a career in music.

Corby spent her first Christmas in Australia since 2004 when she was arrested and jailed for importing 4.3kg of marijuana to Bali. Her 15-year sentence ended and she was deported to Australia.

Corby posted two photographs on Boxing Day of her celebrations with her family. The played beer pong and indulged on cheesecakes made by her mother Rosleigh Rose. Her sisters Mercedes Corby and Melenae Kisina were also there.

"Sometimes I laugh to (sic) hard," she wrote under a picture.

A week ago she also posted a photograph of herself with Santa Claus.
