A SCHOOL bus has crashed into the front yard of a home on Pialba's Old Maryborough Rd near the corner of Tooth St about 8.20am

One lane of Old Maryborough Rd is closed and police are diverting traffic onto Picnic St.

Hervey Bay police Constable Michael Edgar said the school bus hit a light pole after it was forced to avoid a tow truck which failed to give way.

He said there were schoolchildren aboard the bus but no one was sent to hospital.

Const Edgar said the driver of the tow truck would be issued an infringement notice for failing to give way.

Police, fire and ambulance officers are at the scene along with a tow truck.
