School's mountain bikes and canoes stolen at Gundiah

UPDATE: Police have released more details about the two trailers stolen from the side of the road near the intersection of Birts Rd and Emery's Bridge Rd in Gundiah.

Police said a white box trailer with Queensland registration 145QTR was carrying 22 mountain bikes of the Giant brand.

A purpose-built maroon trailer with Queensland registration AK5107 was carrying canoes with the Fraser Coast Anglican College emblem on them.

Police said the canopy for the bike trailer was found later in nearby bushland.

The trailers, which had locks attached, were taken between 8pm on August 13 and 7am on August 14, police said.

EARLIER: HEARTLESS thieves have stolen valuable sporting equipment belonging to the Fraser Coast Anglican College.

Students and teachers from the school were camping near Gundiah and two trailers with six fibreglass white canoes and 22 mountain bikes had been brought along for the adventure.

The trailers were left beside the road and when teachers returned to the location, the trailers and the equipment inside, believed to be worth thousands of dollars, were gone.

Police investigations are continuing.
