That is why Vivien's Model Management's Queensland division is heading to the Coast hunting for the next big thing.

On Sunday, the business will hold an open day for aspiring models.

Vivien's Model Management's Queensland manager Georgia Barclay said scouting through model searches always had played a major role in Vivien's success.

"We always seem to find a few unique faces that stand out from the crowd … those faces you look at and know are going to be something special," she said.

Since 1967, Vivien's has discovered, launched and managed the careers of many successful models including Sarah Murdoch, Kristie Hinze and Gemma Ward, who have gone on to achieve prominence and celebrity status not just in the modelling world, but also in the spheres of television, film and music.

"We used to need a minimum of 5ft 10in (178cm). We can drop that to 5ft 7in (170cm) for girls because there is a lot more online work now and not as much catwalk," she said.

"But we still need over 6ft (183cm) tall for the boys."

The open day will be at Peregian Beach Community House, 255 David Low Way, Peregian Beach, on Sunday from 11am to noon.

Fashion photographer Ian Chang will be there, using his "great eye" to find some fresh talent.
