Seagulls stay in Bundaberg comp

THE HERVEY Bay Seagulls have decided against joining the Maryborough Wallaroos in the Fraser Coast Rugby League competition, which is held on Friday nights in Maryborough, opting instead to remain in the Bundaberg Rugby League competition.

Last week the 2009 premiers, the Maryborough Wallaroos, decided to leave the BRL to help develop an under-18s competition on the Fraser Coast.

Mark Williams, from the Seagulls, said the club had decided against going to the Fraser Coast competition because the team wanted to remain in what they believed was the stronger Bundaberg competition.

“The players didn’t want to come back to the Friday night competition,” Williams said yesterday.
