Police call for help to find pair on run after shooting
UPDATE 2.14PM: Police have released images of two people they're searching for in relation to a shooting incident at Lowmead, between Gladstone and Bundaberg.
The couple have links to Rockhampton, Gympie, Ipswich and Brisbane, and are believed to be in south-east Queensland.
At a media conference in Gladstone this morning, Detective Senior Sergeant Luke Peachey said police were calling for public assistance from anybody who knew them or where they were.
The couple is considered dangerous and people are urged not to approach them, but to contact Gladstone police on 4971 3222 or Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000.
Earlier: Police are still searching for a man and woman who stole a vehicle after allegedly shooting an 82-year-old Lowmead resident in the leg on Monday night.
The stolen vehicle that was stolen has been found in Gympie. The white 1999 Nissan Patrol was found on East Deep Creek Rd, minus the number plates, late Tuesday afternoon.
Gladstone Detective Senior Sergeant Luke Peachey said police had some key suspects but they still needed to be directly tied to the offences.
He said it was likely the pair was heading south.
The man is described as being of Aboriginal appearance, aged 20 to 30 years, of skinny build with scruffy, shoulder-length hair.
The woman is described as being of Aboriginal appearance, aged 16 to 20 years, of slim build with curly black hair.
The elderly victim had surgery on his right leg on Monday night and is in a stable condition.
He remains in Bundaberg Hospital under observation and is expected to be discharged on Thursday.
