'Serious' accident closes highway

A TWO-CAR accident on the Bruce Highway forced police to close the highway to traffic in both directions on Monday morning.

Police and rescue services were called to the accident site, approximately 10km south of Maryborough, and are calling the accident "serious".

Police are calling for drivers to slow down and drive cautiously on the State's wet roads as the weather forecast indicates a week of steady rain.
