Seymour elected deputy mayor in ballot against Rolf Light

GEORGE Seymour is the deputy mayor of the Fraser Coast after a narrow victory over councillor Rolf Light.

After a short discussion Cr Seymour was elected deputy 6-5 with mayor Chris Loft voting for Cr Light.

Prior to the vote Cr Seymour told councillors if they thought he was the best person to be deputy mayor they should vote for him.

"If you don't - don't vote for me," he declared.

Councillor Stuart Taylor moved an amendment to make the position of deputy mayor a permanent one.

"The position needs to have some continuity about it," he said.

Cr Taylor's amendment was defeated 2-9 with Darren Everard the only councillor to support him.
