WE WERE THERE: Sharing moments from the school yard

WITH about 40 schools in the region, both state and private, the list of stories to be shared about Fraser Coast students' academic, sporting, music and performing arts achievements is endless.

Right from their first day of prep, through primary school, through their sports days, NAPLAN and Year 12 exams onto graduation, the Chronicle has been and will continue to be there every step of the way to help celebrate and document these milestones.

We have interviewed our duxes, supported our teachers as they lobby for improved conditions, and campaigned against bullying to ensure our kids are safe in school.

We have highlighted the outstanding success of our schools in standardised testing, such as the 2009 front page about how Fraser Coast Anglican College had nearly 100 % of its students reach national benchmarks for reading, writing, spelling, grammar, punctuation and numeracy.

The Queensland Junior Touch Football State Cup has been covered in depth by the Chronicle as we recognise our youths' sporting achievements.

It's the Fraser Coast's biggest sporting event and makes for incredible stories about youth, teamwork and victory.

And Chronicle staff don't just write stories about our schools - we help out too, with staff members on P&C committees, coaching youth sports and volunteering for events like the Maryborough Technology Challenge.

The success of our children is something the whole community should have pride in.
