SUNSMART Sid did a pretty good job of promoting the slip, slop, slap mantra in the fight against skin cancer.

But now he's got a new message to protect Queenslanders from the cancer to which we are most likely to succumb. To slip, slop, slap has been added seek and slide.

Friday is Queensland SunSmart Day and the Cancer Council is urging residents to support the battle against skin cancer.

There's still time for schools to register and receive a SunSmart Day kit.

Cancer Council spokeswoman Kim Walters said the day would promote awareness of the disease and raise funds towards research and prevention programs.

“Now we want people, especially children, to slip on a shirt, slop on sunscreen, slap on a hat, seek shade and slide on sunnies.”
