‘Significant’ legal argument expected in Yandina 7 trial

A TRIAL date has been set for members of the Yandina Seven charged under bikie laws after meeting at the Yandina Hotel in November 2013.

Joshua Shane Carew, 32, Scott Michael Conley, 39, Eric Ferdinand Felhaber, 52, Paul Jeffery Lansdowne, 58, Patrick Francis Moloney, 61, Steven Michael Smith, 30 and Dan Whale, 28, had their charges mentioned in Maroochydore Magistrates Court this morning.

They were charged under the Vicious Lawless Association Disestablishment Act for meeting in a group of more than two in a public place while being a participant in a criminal organisation.

The men are alleged to be participants in the Rebels motor cycle club.

None of the men were in court this morning and the mention was conducted by telephone.

Executive Director from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions Todd Fuller QC said he expected the trial to take two to three weeks.

"I suspect there will be some significant legal argument," Mr Fuller said.

The trial is set to begin in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on November 7.
