Local bakery is the best in state
MARYBOROUGH French Hot Bread is the best bakery in the state – and that’s official.
The little bakery with a big heart in Adelaide Street has taken out the Best Bakery in Qld title as part of a national competition to find Australia’s Best Bakery for 2010.
Between June 1 and July 31 Maryborough French Hot Bread received 3736 online votes, pushing it ahead of 42 competitors to take out the state title.
Owner Cuong Pham said he owed the win to the Maryborough community.
“We were absolutely overwhelmed by amount of votes we received and we can’t say thank you enough to the community for their support,” Mr Pham said.
“For us baking is not just a job, it’s a passion, so it’s rewarding to know this comes through in the quality of our products.
“To be the first bakery ever recognised by our community as the best in Qld is a real motivation and we will definitely put up a fight for the 2011 national title.”
Teresa Pham said the title and recent surge in demand had inspired them to consider expanding the business.
“We’re looking at introducing an eatery with coffee tables in the footpath,” she said.
Pilot national marketing manager Hayley Daniel said Maryborough French Hot Bread deserved the recognition.
“This award is a testament to the great food and fantastic service provided by team at Maryborough French Hot Bread every day and they should be very proud of their achievement.
“Australia has never seen a competition like this one yet we recorded over 42,000 votes for the 260 bakeries that participated.”
As the state winner, Maryborough French Hot Bread received $ 500 and a plaque bearing the best bakery title.
