IOLI Hadjilyra was a popular young woman and a "passionate artist" who lost her mother to cancer several years ago, police have revealed.

Detectives have provided some insight into the woman whose body was found under the Kalinga Park rail bridge at noon yesterday as they continue investigations into her death.

Detective Inspector Tim Trezise said Ioli's devastated father visited Hendra police station this morning to talk to police about his daughter.

"She is quite a popular young lady," Det Insp Trezise said.

"She has a number of friends. She comes from a good family. Her background is, she was born in Cyprus and she has dual Cypriot and Australian citizenship."

Det Insp Trezise said Ioli was the third of four siblings. She has two brothers and one sister - all of them living in Cyprus.

Her father is Australian and her mother was Cypriot.

"Her mum tragically passed away from cancer a few years ago," he said.

"It's a good family. They're obviously quite traumatised in relation to this death and the police are doing everything they can to provide them with some comfort and try and give them some answers as to what's happened to Ioli."

Ioli was living in a suburb on Brisbane's southside and appeared to have no connection to the Clayfield park where her body was found.

According to her Facebook page, Ioli attended MacGregor State High School.

Police are investigating whether she caught the train to Kalinga Park.

Det Insp Trezise said trains were her "major mode of transport".

"She was a passionate artist. That was her passion (and) she was quite a talented sketch artist.

"There was a couple of her sketches located next to her body.

"We're not sure whether she was there sketching or whether she simply had them in her possessions and they've been dropped."

Ioli's death is being treated as a possible homicide. Police say she had unexplained bruising and bleeding on her body and they believe some of her clothing had been removed.
