New nursing course at TAFE in 2010

A NEW training program for assistant nurses will be introduced at Wide Bay Institute of TAFE’s Hervey Bay and Maryborough campuses this year.

“A severe shortage of trained staff in the health industry means it is critical to find more efficient ways to use the skills of highly trained enrolled and registered nurses,” faculty manger Gillian Rimmer said.

“This new course is ideal for those who want to broaden their career opportunities or for those who want a taste of the work involved in health care to see if they’re suited to it.”

The idea for the Certificate III in Health Services Assistant was put forward by the institute’s Nurse Training Advisory Panel.
