Smoking dope near grandkids
A GRANDFATHER who admitted to smoking cannabis while his grandchildren were present has faced the Hervey Bay Magistrates Court.
Troy Leonard Stone pleaded guilty to possessing dangerous drugs, possessing drug utensils and possessing stolen property.
The court heard that police went to Stone’s Point Vernon home on August 14 and saw two young children in the lounge room which had an “acrid smell like burning cannabis”.
A search of the home uncovered cannabis, a water pipe and a grinder, along with a rangehood and cooktop stolen during a break and enter at Sapphire Apartments.
Magistrate Graeme Tatnell told Stone that he was setting a bad example for the grandchildren.
“The possession of a dangerous drug is a problem because there’s children present,” Mr Tatnell said.
Stone was ordered to attend a drug education session and was fined $750 for the property charge.
