Snakemaster is an autobiography with bite

HE'S a fearless man who treats reptiles like his best friends and educates millions of people about venomous snakes.

Filmmaker and author Austin Stevens is back in the public eye with his third autobiography Snakemaster - Wildlife Adventures with the World's Most Dangerous Reptiles.

In the book, Mr Stevens talks about his early days in his native South Africa and life stories about adventures with dangerous reptiles.

"People are always showing interest in reptiles and although there are a lot of frightening episodes in the book, it's designed to educate people about reptiles," Mr Stevens said.

He first visited Hervey Bay 15 years ago while touring Australia and loved it and became a resident three years ago.
