So if it’s tasteless you’re dateless, guys
IT IS easy for a woman to express herself through fashion for the Melbourne Cup.
But what about the guys?
While a suit and tie may seem the logical choice, it's all about how you wear it that speaks volumes.
A survey of 100 Melbourne Cup enthusiasts by Elite Singles has found 93% would not consider dating an attractive man if he was wearing a tasteless fashion item.
According to the survey, the number one cringe-worthy item is a brightly coloured suit, followed by white leather shoes, novelty sunglasses and cufflinks and a cheap trilby.
But lawyer Travis Schultz will be dressing loud and proud today as he carries out Sunshine Coast Turf Club board duties.
He said he would be wearing "a racy suit, something not too conservative".
Natashya Manfield, the owner of Miss Manfield, will glam up with a porcelain print cotton sun frock, red headpiece and nude heels.
Ms Manfield said fashion was the best conversation starter and blokes wanting to avoid a fashion faux pas only had to ensure their outfit was not ill-fitting.
Whatever weather racegoers might want to make sure they have a warm shrug or jacket to wear today just in case.
The Bureau of Meteorology has predicted partly cloudy weather with light winds but a pleasant maximum temperature of 26 degrees.
