Rain forces Shakespeare inside

THE ANNUAL Shakespeare in the Park Festival has been forced indoors due to bad weather.

This year’s performance, Twelfth Night, has been moved from Hervey Bay’s Seafront Oval to the Brolga Theatre in Maryborough for two shows.

The March 18 session of the USQ show has been cancelled. Performances on Friday 19th and Saturday 20th will now run from 7pm at the Brolga.

Festival organisers say they want to ensure the safety of their company and the comfort of their patrons.

“Our sites are saturated and ... it is obvious that the show cannot go ahead outdoors,” producer Rebecca Scollen said.

New tickets will be re-issued as old ones will no longer be valid.

Theatre staff will attempt to contact all ticketed patrons in the coming days to swap their tickets. For more on the festival, visit www.usq.edu.au/shakespeare
