School performance dedicated to ANZAC legend

THE SPIRIT of the Anzacs will be given a worthy tribute today by the entire Maryborough Special School student body in the production of '1915 the Ordinary Soldier'.

All 80 students and the surrounding community including the 9th Battalion re-enactment group, the Brolga Theatre, St Mary's College and the Maryborough Historical Society have spent the last four school terms preparing videos, learning dances and practising their lines.

Today at 11am, a special performance of the play will be held in the Brolga Theatre before the public performance next Tuesday, October 27.

Maryborough Special School arts coordinator and play director Rose Wright said the production, sponsored by the State Government's Anzac centenary grant, gave every student a chance to show off their talent.

"We spent an entire term compiling information about Anzacs from the area to make it as accurate as possible."
