Police find 1kg of cannabis after stopping speeding woman

A WOMAN pulled over for speeding will now face court on drug charges after police allegedly found 1kg of cannabis in her car.

The 40-year-old had been pulled over by officers from the Wide Bay Tactical Crime Squad on the Bruce Hwy on Tuesday, when police allegedly discovered the drugs.

Senior Sergeant David Briese said officers were conducting traffic enforcement as part of the statewide Operation Lima Barrier when they pulled the woman over.

The operation focuses on the fatal five traffic offences committed on the Bruce Hwy and will run until mid-September.

A further two tickets were issued on Tuesday as part of the operation.

The woman will appear in court on September 3.
