A young man has been snapped jumping the railing on the top floor of a Mooloolaba high-rise and walking precariously along the ledge.

Mike Kenyon, 72, was in the top floor office of another high-rise snapping the end of the Sydney to Mooloolaba Yacht Race when he spotted the mystery man.

Mr Kenyon watched for about 15 minutes as the man walked around, sat down and at times lay on his stomach to peak over the edge.

"I wasn't sure if he'd had a few or if he was just a silly fella," Mr Kenyon said.

"I didn't know what he was about do to.

"He could have been a jumper. He was a silly bugger. He was just walking around and looking."

Mr Kenyon rang the resort to alert management but was unsure of the outcome.

He eventually lost sight of the man, believing he had either gone indoors or around to the other side of the building to safety.
