M'boro locksmith reaches out to Gympie business needing help

STAFF from a Maryborough locksmith company recently travelled to Gympie to work in the shop of a family affected by a violent home invasion.

The Maryborough locksmith company owner, who asked not to be named, said he knew he had to help Stewart Willcock, whose son, apprentice locksmith Kile Beaumont, and a woman were attacked on September 21.

But they recently returned home to meet the needs of their own business and wished they had been able to do more because Mr Willcock needed "about two months more of help".

The owner said he heard about the family's struggles online through a post on a locksmith guild website.

"He still has to run his business and not go broke."

The owner said he felt the locksmithing community needed to band together in tough times.

He said he had a ball helping and clicked straight away with Mr Willcock.

"He's a top bloke," he said.

"He doesn't want help but I know he's going to struggle."

The owner said it would be great if other Fraser Coast locksmiths could lend the Gympie family a hand.

Mr Beaumont recently told the Gympie Times he was back in the shop under supervision but wasn't expected to be fully recovered until December.

"Guild members have been fantastic. The guilds have an attitude that if you've got a problem, call us," he said.
