State M P Pay Rises
The pay rises are from $60,400 p.a. for a backbencher to $125,400 for the Premier. These rises are obscene, from an incompetent government when they want the rest of the Public service to accept a 2.2% pay rise. The LNP backbenchers are now saying they will be out of pocket with their wage rise, as they are losing half their electoral allowance. This is not correct, as with their backbencher fortnightly pay rise of $2,326, less tax $1,039, net $1,287, to be offset against the electoral allowance of $884 per fortnight, the will make a $403 fortnightly profit ($10,478 a year). This is not cost neutral, as stated by the Deputy Premier Seeney, who admitted he had no idea of the costs in formulating the pay rises, but went ahead "because it was the law".
