Stolen car collides with police vehicle

POLICE have charged three people following an alleged evade police incident at Rocklea this morning.

It will be alleged at about 4.40am police observed a stolen car on Sherwood Road, Sherwood. Police have activated lights and sirens and the car has continued through various residential streets in Sherwood and Corinda. 

The car drove in a dangerous manner including travelling on the wrong side of the road from Oxley Road into Clewley Street and at speed southbound on Oxley Road.

Due to mechanical problems the car slowed to approximately 30 kilometres per hour prior to turning left onto Ipswich Road at Oxley,  The car has exited onto the Service Road under the Donaldson overpass and collided with the police vehicle at low speed before coming to stop.

The male driver and two passengers exited the car and ran away.  All three were subsequently located by police and arrested.

A 24-year-old The Gap man has been charged with one charge each of fail to stop, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, possess tainted property, possess utensil, unlicenced driving and fail to stop at traffic incident.

A 17-year-old Graceville female and a 23-year-old Eatons Hill man have both been charged with one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and possess tainted property.

All three are to appear at the Richlands Magistrates Court this morning.

The vehicle had been stolen earlier in the night from the driveway of a house in Seventeen Mile Rocks.
