Fire safety a hot topic at Bunnings workshop

TAKING part in a simple workshop at Bunnings Hervey Bay could save a life.

The Pialba store will host a free Change Your Smoke Alarm and Home Fire Safety Workshops this month, where residents will be shown how to change smoke alarm batteries and shop staff will offer home fire safety advice.

Manager Darren Pearce said the workshop would arm residents with fire safety and prevention information.

"Protecting homes against fire is so important and our workshops aim to improve residents' knowledge of fire safety to ensure they are prepared to respond in case of emergency," Mr Pearce said.

"Our workshops offer locals the chance to learn fire safety advice and tips that can help save lives and homes."

All homes in Queensland are legally required to be fitted with working smoke alarms.
