Struggle with plating leads to Churchill's elimination

DANIEL Churchill's fall from MasterChef grace was a quick one.

The 23-year-old personal trainer went from the highs of a first-class trip to Paris with Matt Preston and being Heston Blumenthal's star student to becoming the reality cooking show's latest evictee.

Churchill was eliminated in tonight's world food map challenge after a whirlwind World Food Week in Dubai.

"I reckon my head was still in Paris; I was still thinking about croissants," he laughed.

"When we got back from Paris, Emma, myself and Lynton were struggling with sleep.

"My mental state wasn't right."

After struggling to get his North American-inspired smoked salmon bagel finished in time, it was his plating that sent Churchill home.

"To go out on presentation was a kick in the butt," he said.

"I'm very hard on myself. To make Top 8 in MasterChef is not bad."

Never one to be lazy, the fitness coach is currently working on four cookbooks.

"My dream is become the healthy cook of the world," he said.

"I will hopefully be inspiring people to cook a bit more healthier."

Churchill also launches his website and food blog, www.danielchurchill.com.au, tomorrow.

He reckons this year's grand prize will come down to either Rishi Desai or Lynton Tapp.

"Lynton can pick up any ingredient and turn it into something amazing," he said.

"Rishi had a rough patch in the middle of it. At one point we thought he was going home; he just gave up. But I think he has some good things coming."

MasterChef airs Sundays through Thursdays at 7.30pm on Ten.
