Stunning Festival of Russian Ballet is coming to M'boro

SCENES from several stunning ballets will be performed at Maryborough's Brolga Theatre in October when A Festival of Russian Ballet comes to town.

The Imperial Russian Ballet Company is coming to Australia to perform the diverse program, which will include acts from The Nutcracker, Bolero and highlights from the world's greatest ballets, including Giselle, Carmen, The Dying Swan and many more.

Audiences will be able to enjoy the timeless music of Tchaikovsky during the performance of The Nutcracker, while Bolero is also considered one of world music's masterpieces.

Artistic director Gediminas Taranda, who founded the Imperial Russian Ballet Company, said he was excited to bring the show to Australia, where his company has performed many times before.

Mr Taranda described the performance as a "very special program" and said the dancers would be performing some of the more difficult and traditional ballet pieces for the audience.

He said Australia was a country that was very supportive of ballet and he was thrilled to bring the performance to our shores.

Performance details

  • The Festival of Russian Ballet will be performed on October 15 from 8pm
  • Tickets will cost $86.90 for adults and $76.90 for concessions
