Suspected stolen haul seized

A LARGE flat screen TV was among a collection of items seized from a house at Urangan yesterday.

Acting on a search warrant, police attended the house at Smith Street in the morning and removed the television, other electrical goods, jewellery and clothing which they suspected of being stolen.

A 33-year-old man was being interviewed yesterday afternoon and was expected to be charged with a number property offences, including break-and-enters and stealing, late last night.

The offences are believed to have occurred in the Hervey Bay area over the past few weeks.

The man was taken into custody on Wednesday night after he was allegedly caught trying to break into a car on the Esplanade and was arrested at the scene.

Police further allege the man had earlier tried to steal some lights off a vehicle that was parked near the Urangan Pier but was unsuccessful.

Inquiries are now being made to track down the owners of the goods found in the home.

Anyone with information or who saw any suspicious activity can contact police, 4123 8111, or Crime Stoppers, 1800 333 000.
