Swimming trio bring home medals

THREE Hervey Bay swimmers did themselves proud at the recent Alice Springs Masters Games, bringing home plenty of medals.

Darryl Higgins won a gold medal in the 50m backstroke, silver in the 100m and 200m breaststroke and silver in the 400m freestyle.

He won bronze in the 800m and 200m freestyle along with the 100m breast stroke.

He also won bronze in two relay events and in the triathlon.

Sue Higgins won bronze in the 100m backstroke, bronze in the mixed medley relay and bronze in the 5km cross country.

Anne Spring took silver in the 800m and 200m freestyle. She took bronze in the 100m breaststroke, 200m breaststroke, 400m breaststroke and 100m freestyle.

She also brought home four silvers in three cycling events and in the triathlon.

The Pan Pac Championships at Miama will be the swimmers’ next big event and will be held this weekend.

Gary Dunlop, Michelle Bott, Linda Hodgekinson and Jennifer Oliver will be competing at the event.
