Tayla sweeps awards night

TAYLA McGrath claimed a myriad of awards at the Aldridge State High School speech night earlier this week.

She was awarded school dux, the Dr Wanda Henry Memorial Award for excellence in science, maths and cultural endeavours, the senior public speaking/debating award, as well as the subject prizes for biology, chemistry, Japanese, mathematics B, mathematics C and physics.

School spokesperson Jacinta McKee said the awards night celebrated all things academic, cultural and community.

“It was, as always, an uplifting event that honoured, very importantly, the fantastic achievements of the school’s students but also indirectly the wonderful support given to them by their parents and carers, teachers, school and the Fraser Coast community,” she said.

“It is important to acknowledge not simply that the award recipients are talented students but that they are winners because of their dedication and the sacrifices they have made to attain their personal best.

“These outstanding young people are excellent role models for their peers.”
