Tech challenge nuisance

A 19-YEAR-OLD disability pensioner has been fined $450 in the Maryborough Magistrates Court for being a public nuisance at this year’s Maryborough Technology Challenge.

Rohan James Batchelor was arrested at the event when police had to intervene in a fight between him and another man.

The court heard that when police arrived a group of people had gathered around the two, who were “yelling and swearing” at each other.

Police managed to break up the fight when Batchelor took off his shirt and came chest-to-chest with his foe.

Defence lawyer Travis George told the court Batchelor had become aggressive because he had seen the other man assault a younger person.
