Ten out of ten for Taryn

KATHY Stretton is not superstitious but when she realised daughter Taryn would be celebrating her 10th birthday on October 10, 2010, she knew she had to do something extra special to celebrate.

“When I realised Taryn’s birthday would be on a Sunday we decided to make her party at 10am – at tenpin bowling,” Kathy said.

“We had 10 people bowling today and they have really enjoyed themselves.

“She wanted a party and this one turned out to be special.

“I’m not superstitious – I just think it’s a bit of fun.”

The Maryborough West State School student was excited to pose for a photo for the newspaper to mark her special day.

Her aunty Jenny Stretton let the secret slip to the Fraser Coast Chronicle on Friday.

And all guests were given an extra little reminder of the significant date.

“I put 10 items in each of their gift bags,” Kathy said.
