Thaiday to fight charge

BRONCOS forward Sam Thaiday will fight his contrary conduct charge for grabbing Jesse Bromwich's thumb in Thursday's loss to Melbourne.

The NRL hit Thaiday with a $1550 early guilty plea fine for the incident in which the Maroons enforcer targeted the forward's heavily bandaged thumb, which he dislocated in Round 1.

But instead of accepting the penalty, the Broncos will head to the judiciary tomorrow night.

It is understood they will argue the incident does not fall under the category of a contrary conduct charge.

If Thaiday is found guilty he will instead be fined $2100.
