The Falcons chase form while Jets need to win
A 30-point loss to Townsville Blackhawks was not part of the Sunshine Coast Falcons' plans for their season.
The Falcons, who sit seventh on the Intrust Super Cup table, led 10-6 at the break and were on top of the Blackhawks before the ladder-leaders put Sunshine Coast to the sword.
Falcons coach Craig Ingebrigtsen said Nambour's David Oakes will not only give his side an extra halves option, but can blunt Ipswich's attack.
"You don't want to give Ipswich the ball at your end with the style they play so with Oakes, he can kick it 50-60m downfield," Ingebrigtsen said.
Meanwhile the defending premier Jets have struggled for form in 2016.
Their roster was gutted by NRL clubs after their drought-breaking premiership win last season, and has battled injury throughout the opening seven rounds.
The loss of electric fullback Marmin Barba, who broke his leg last week, opens the door for Gympie product Carlin Anderson to impress in the custodial role.
Ipswich Jets captain Dane Phillips said the team's desire to win was hurting their chances of notching a third win for the season.
"I think we just want a win so badly we are making too many simple mistakes," he said. "The desire is definitely there it's just simple errors which is coming back to hurt us."
