Petition with almost 1000 signatures backs Bauple's RV push

THE fight to make Bauple the Fraser Coat's first official RV-Friendly Town has intensified following a petition bearing signatures from almost 1000 Campervan and Motorhome Club of Australia members being presented to the council.

The petition is the latest push from the Bauple community to get the RV-friendly rating.

It followed the lodgement of an application from the bid team to have the Fraser Coast Regional Council certify the town as RV-friendly, and initial planning in 2008 to create a waste facility in the area for RVs. Macadamia House director Yolande Bromet said after working towards the project for five years the signatures proved there was wide-spread support.

"The petition was enthusiastically signed by CMCA members during the recent rally in Maryborough," Ms Bromet said.

Fraser Coast Mayor Gerard O'Connell said the petition has been added to the public petition register.

He said the council would review the petition and a response report would be prepared.

He said changes to RVFT criteria meant towns without an RV dump point - including Bauple - would not be approved under RVFT status.
