The Flash S2E10: Potential Energy preview

*spoilers ahead if you haven't seen season two episode nine*

PREVIEW: The Flash and Arrow have been on their annual mid-season hiatus since December 9, but this week marks their return and Legends of Tomorrow's premiere.

Barry Allen/The Flash (Grant Gustin) will face his opposite during Potential Energy.

No, this isn't another return of the Reverse Flash, but the on-screen debut of The Turtle (Aaron Douglas), a metahuman who can slow down time.

While The Turtle shapes as merely another "villain of the week", the main story will see the return of Tony Zodd's Zoom.

The Earth-2 big bad is on a quest to kill The Flash, and has so far been responsible for most of Barry's enemies this season.

Now he threatens to kidnap Barry's love interest Patty Spivot (Shantel VanSanten), leaving him with the decision of whether or not he should reveal his alter ego to Spivot, or to keep his ability secret for another week.

A few more things:

- Jay Garrick (Teddy Sears) and Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker) shared a romantic moment in Running to Stand Still (S2E09). Are they together?

- Following Wally West's (Keiynan Lonsdale) debut at the end of Running to Stand Still, he and Detective Joe West (Jesse L.Martin) are yet to trade words on-camera. The first half of this season built towards his debut, and now the focus will be on the father-son relationship that never was, as well as how Iris (Candice Patton) copes with meeting her brother for the first time.

The Flash airs Wednesdays at 6.30pm (AEST) on Fox 8 (Channel 108).
