Watch out: monsters are returning to M'boro

AFTER last year's sellout success, the monster trucks are returning to Maryborough for more car-crushing, air-jumping, fist-pumping fun.

"Last year we had an idea of around 3000 people but that went out the window and we ended up seeing 6000 through the gates," said Wayne Moller, president of Maryborough Speedway.

"This year we've got in extra grandstand seating which we're hoping will cater for a further 1500 people.

"We've got an invitation-only burn-out competition, we've got super-light off-road buggies as well as speedway classes, a car show out the front in the afternoon, free giveaways and jumping castle for the kids.

"We're also doing a kids' fireworks display at 6.30pm and the main show at 9.30pm."

On Saturday, September 6, the trucks start with a sky wheelie contest to see who can get the highest in the air off the jumps, then they'll race against each other, and at the end of the night they'll do their freestyle display.
