Heavy rain causes major potholes
THE ROUNDABOUT at the intersection of Beach Road and Boat Harbour Drive is one of the worst affected areas from the heavy downfalls on the Fraser Coast since Sunday.
The potholes left in the stretch of road were filled in by Main Roads workers yesterday.
A spokesperson for Main Roads said the roads were regularly inspected for damage, especially during periods of wet weather, and inspections would be ongoing as wet weather continued.
The spokesperson said potholes had caused minimal damage to roads throughout the Wide Bay area and crews had been busy repairing Boat Harbour Drive since yesterday morning.
“During periods of wet weather, motorists are asked to take care, drive to the prevailing conditions and obey all signage,” the spokesperson said.
After some early showers today the forecast is for rain to clear and mostly fine weather to follow throughout the rest of today and tomorrow.
