Unforgettable Saturday sights of the Fraser Coast

THESE plumes of smoke huffing and puffing their way high into the bluest of Fraser Coast skies had tongues wagging and imaginations captured as to what monster fire was to blame.

But Hervey Bay Rural Fire Brigade group officer Don Duffus said the spectacular sight was little more than the product of a controlled burn on private property at Susan River.

Residents however weren't the only ones caught out with their thoughts running wild - with Mr Duffus confirming volunteer firefighters also phoned the Brisbane control centre to ask for information.
