Thousands attend Carols by Candlelight in Bay

THOUSANDS enjoyed the fun and Christmas cheer at the Carols by Candlelight event held in Hervey Bay on the weekend.

Families turned out in mass for the Christmas occasion, with glow sticks making the event come to life in Seafront Oval on Saturday night.

Fraser Coast Mayor Gerard O'Connell attended the event and posted photos to Facebook.

He said there was a "great crowd and a great atmosphere" at the carols, which stared in the afternoon and continued until 9pm in the evening.

The event was sponsored by the Hervey Bay RSL.

"It was a privilege to be part of the celebration," the mayor wrote.
