Mayor estimates 10,000 at seafood festival

THOUSANDS gathered at Urangan on Sunday for the annual Hervey Bay Seafood Festival 2014.

Temporary marquees filled Fishermen's Park as each served up a particular seafood sensation to hungry visitors. Fraser Coast Mayor Gerard O'Connell said the event was a way of showcasing one of the area's strongest industries.

"I think this has been the best seafood festival we have had so far," he said.

"I'd say we had about 10,000 people."
