Rock Off skate park saved by generous anonymous donor

AN ANONYMOUS donor has come to the rescue of Hervey Bay's Rock Off skate park.

While cagey about naming a figure, owner Mandy Maurer said with some additional fundraising, the amount would be enough to keep the venue open until it was able to transition to being a not-for-profit organisation.

"It's still only a band-aid but it's a pretty good band-aid," Mandy said.

Several parents whose children enjoy the social benefits of the skate park, also approached Mandy and her husband Dan to support Rock Off.

A three-day event, Save Our Skatepark Festival, will be held this weekend, from Friday to Sunday, to raise additional funds.

My Kitchen Rules winners Dan and Steph Mulheron will be there on Saturday, in charge of the sausage sizzle.
