‘Thriving’ business pulls pin on Ocean St burger bar

A POPULAR burger bar will refocus its efforts and attention onto its flagship store after pulling the pin on its Ocean St restaurant.

For 18 months, Downtown Burger Bar enjoyed a tenure along the Maroochydore night-life strip, but closed its doors in October.

For lease signs remain hanging on the premise door and chairs are neatly stacked months later.

Owner Cam Scott said Nambour was "thriving", making the business decision a simple one.

"Downtown Nambour is expanding much more than we could cope with, and it's our core business," Mr Scott said.

"We've been able to double the size of our kitchen in massive renovations, add a new fancy grill that cooks patties in half the time.

"We all love the family feel of the small town."

Mr Scott said he had thoroughly enjoyed the Maroochydore stint and believed the hub would continue to take "leap after leap" in the right direction.

"Maroochydore is striving forward, and the area will continue to be a cultural hub," he said.

"(Ocean St trader) Dimi Limnatitis has done an amazing job and we were proud to be part of it. The night markets in particular are flying.

"Sometimes you expand too quickly and have to take a step back."

Tomorrow, all of Downtown Nambour's profits will go directly to the NSW and Victorian bushfire appeal.
