Top gong to cultural centre at Master Builders awards
MIKE Murry Homes, PBS Building and Comfort Homes R Paroz Constructions took out the major awards at this year's Burnett Wide Bay Master Builders Housing and Constructions Awards on Friday night at the Brolga Theatre.
Master Builders regional manager Michael Hopkins congratulated all 30 winners.
"It is a tribute to the Housing and Construction Awards that, after 26 years, they continue to be sought after by the state's top builders and tradespeople," he said.
The Fraser Coast Cultural Centre was named project of the year.
The centre is a stunning community building constructed for the Fraser Coast Regional Council.
Facilities include a theatre room, display area for arts and cultural exhibitions, staff offices, amenities and car parking.
The building's unique design features concrete tilt panels with specialised moulds that join to form the Fraser Coast Waterways and areas of Aboriginal significance.
The perimeter of the building is surrounded by 1966sq m of hardwood decking.
Mayor Gerard O'Connell said it was a great night to recognise the large building industry on the Fraser Coast.
"This current economic environment we're seeing an upswing in confidence," he said.
"I congratulate all the nominees and the winners because these are the people who make really strong investments in our community."
